Our goal is to offer a space where people of all ages feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood.

With experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults across a range of settings, Hayleigh offers evidence-based therapy and comprehensive psychological assessments tailored to each individual.

Therapy is collaborative and flexible, focused on helping individuals make sense of their experiences, build practical strategies, and move toward goals that align with their values. Whilst, assessments are designed to provide clarity and insight, supporting self-understanding.

Care is guided by identity-affirming principles, recognising the importance of lived experience, strengths, and personal context in shaping meaningful support.

Hayleigh Dunne Psychology recognises that every person’s journey is unique.

Mission

Hayleigh Dunne Psychology is committed to neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQIA+ inclusive practice, collaborating with clients and professionals to deliver care that is respectful, informed, and tailored to each person’s unique journey.

Affirming Therapy Tailored to Your Needs

Whether you are seeking support for yourself or your child, Hayleigh’s aim is to offer therapy that is supportive, affirming, and practical. Hayleigh’s approach focuses on helping clients feel genuinely understood while working towards greater clarity, confidence, and wellbeing.

Hayleigh’s approach to therapy is multimodal and personalised. Rather than relying on a single therapeutic model, she draws from a range of evidence-based approaches and tailor therapy to each client’s needs, strengths, and goals. Therapy is collaborative, flexible, and grounded in respect for each person’s identity, autonomy, and lived experience.

Therapy modalities that may be drawn from include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Mindfulness-based interventions.

Comprehensive Psychological Assessments

  • Hayleigh offers neurodivergent-affirming autism and ADHD assessments for children (6 years and older), adolescents, and adults. Assessments are designed to provide clarity, validation, and practical understanding, while recognising neurodiversity as a natural variation of human experience.

Neurodivergent-affirming assessments take a strengths-based, supportive approach that prioritises understanding, empowerment, and respect. Rather than focusing solely on pathologising or deficits, the assessment aims to capture each person’s unique profile, lived experience, and context.

Assessments draw on evidence-based diagnostic frameworks, alongside tools and clinical practices that are affirming and responsive to neurodivergent presentations. Hayleigh has a particular interest in assessing diverse and often under-identified presentations of autism and ADHD, including in women, high-masking individuals, high-achieving individuals, and those with co-occurring conditions.

Assessments are available in person or via telehealth, and are intentionally structured to be accessible, respectful, and streamlined for the neurodivergent community, without compromising clinical quality or rigour.

Please note - Psychologists do not prescribe medication; if you wish to access medication, you will need to consult with a Psychiatrist.

  • Hayleigh offers psychoeducational and diagnostic assessments for children (6+) through to teenagers (16 years) to understand learning profiles and identify areas of strength and support. Assessments include:

    • Specific learning disorders (e.g., dyslexia & dyscalculia).

    • General learning difficulties.

    • Intellectual disabilities.

    • Giftedness.

These assessments provide insight into strengths and challenges, along with tailored strategies and recommendations to support academic progress, skill development, and everyday functioning. The assessments incorporate an individualised, comprehensive, multi-modal approach.

  • For many people, gender-affirming medical care (e.g., surgeries or hormones) is an important part of how they express and affirm their identity.

Surgeries can include top surgery or breast augmentation, facial surgeries, tracheal shaves, vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, or orchidectomy.

Most surgeons require a WPATH assessment from a mental health professional to confirm that the individual is able to provide informed consent to gender-affirming medical intervention.

Hayleigh offers WPATH assessments in line with WPATH Standards of Care Version 8, delivered in a way that is identity-affirming, trauma-informed, and accessible. These assessments are available for both teenagers and adults depending on the need and requests made by medical professionals.

The purpose of these assessments is never to question your identity or create further barriers to care; rather, they aim to support your decision-making and ensure you have the relevant information and support needed to access gender-affirming medical interventions.

Hayleigh aims to make the assessment process streamlined, supportive, and empowering, recognising that every person’s journey and goals are unique. Assessments follow an informed consent model, ensuring you have the knowledge, understanding, and autonomy to make decisions about your gender-affirming care.

    What a WPATH Assessment Involves:

A WPATH assessment typically takes between 1–3 appointments, depending on the individual’s age, goals, and history, and can be conducted in person or via telehealth. Areas covered include:

    • Current living situation and demographic information

    • Gender journey, including social and medical affirmation history

    • Goals and expectations for surgery, including type of surgery

    • Exploration of a diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria

    • Understanding of the benefits, risks, and outcomes of surgery

    • Awareness of recovery needs and available support networks

    • Mental health history and current supports

Following the assessment, a written letter is provided for use with surgeons or other gender-affirming healthcare providers. Letters are typically requested by surgeons to be completed within three months of a planned surgery date.

Please note some surgeons require letters from specific professionals (e.g., Psychiatrists), so always check with your surgeon prior to booking in an assessment.

WPATH assessments are charged at Hayleigh’s standard session rate of $225 per hour, with the number of sessions depending on the complexity of your individual case. You will generally be booked in for one session initially and if further sessions are required, this will be discussed with you during the first session. Lower fees may be available for Health Care Card holders. Please discuss this with admin upon booking your appointment.
